The Israeli embassy in London was the goal of a terror plot by Iranian nationals who had been arrested by British counterterrorism police on Saturday, in keeping with individuals aware of the investigation.

5 Iranians had been detained in co-ordinated arrests throughout England on Saturday, whereas three different Iranians had been detained in London in a separate operation.

Till now UK authorities had not indicated what the suspects had been focusing on, although the Metropolitan Police on Sunday mentioned the investigation associated to “a suspected plot to focus on particular premises”.

However individuals aware of the investigation mentioned on Wednesday that the 5 Iranians arrested throughout England had been suspected of being a part of a cell that was within the closing phases of planning an assault on the Israeli embassy in Kensington, west London.

They indicated that the suspects might have been hours away from executing their plans when police intervened.

Safety minister Dan Jarvis on Tuesday referred to as the arrests “a number of the largest counterterrorism actions that we now have seen in current occasions”.

The Israeli embassy in London declined to remark.

It is a growing story
