Acorn TV has locked in a deal for jail drama Bariau (Inside). The collection, which is basically Welsh language with some English, has proved standard on house turf on S4C. The second season dropped in April.
Acorn TV has acquired each six-episode seasons of the half-hour drama collection and can deliver it to the U.S. and its service in Australia and New Zealand.
The drama relies on testimonies from real-life prisoners and jail guards. Set inside the harsh confines of a fictional jail in Wales, it explores the advanced interaction between characters on each side of the legislation. It has been hailed for its sensible portrayal of jail life.
In Season 2, inmate Barry (Gwion Tegid) is making an attempt to maintain management of the unit by which he’s incarcerated as new employees and inmates make life tough.
The collection is produced by Welsh indie Rondo Media. It was written by Ciron Gruffydd (Limbo) and directed by Griff Rowland (Hinterland). APC handles distribution of the collection and struck the Acorn TV deal.
The solid of Bariau additionally contains Adam Woodward (Hollyoaks), Annes Elwy (Little Girls), Invoice Skinner (Ted Lasso), Ian Puleston-Davies (Coronation Road) and Alicia Forde (Waterloo Street).
