California’s far-left Governor Gavin Newsom has fired off a threatening letter to President Donald Trump, demanding that he “stand down” on supposed red-state redistricting efforts – or else face a large counter-gerrymander from the Golden State’s Democrat machine.

The ultimatum, which Newsom’s workplace blasted out in all-caps, reads:

DONALD TRUMP HAS 24 HOURS LEFT TO RESPOND TO GOVERNOR NEWSOM’S LETTER. IF HE DOES NOT STAND DOWN, THERE WILL BE A VERY IMPORTANT PRESS CONFERENCE THIS WEEK WITH A MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT! THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER.

Newsom accused Trump and Republican-led states like Texas of “enjoying with hearth” and warned that California is ready to neutralize any Republican features by gerrymandering a number of blue seats to make sure Democrat dominance.

Oh, the irony! Newsom lectures about “democracy” whereas admitting he’s able to unleash his personal gerrymandering scheme to “offset” what he baselessly calls Republican rigging.

The letter reads:

I’m writing to ask you to name on the governor of Texas and different purple states, who’re performing in your request to attract new congressional maps by an unprecedented, mid-decade hyper-partisan gerrymander to rig the upcoming midterm elections, to cease these efforts.

You’re enjoying with hearth, risking the destabilization of our democracy, whereas understanding that California can neutralize any features you hope to make. This try to rig congressional maps to carry onto energy earlier than a single vote is forged within the 2026 election is an affront to American democracy.

This isn’t what the Founders envisioned, and California can not stand idly by as this energy seize unfolds. I don’t do that evenly, as I consider legislative district maps needs to be drawn by impartial, citizen-led efforts, as we now have completed in California for the final 20 years.

If you’ll not stand down, I might be compelled to guide an effort to redraw the maps in California to offset the rigging of maps in purple states. But when the opposite states name off their redistricting efforts, we are going to fortunately do the identical. And American democracy might be higher for it.
