A vegetation fireplace ignited within the Santa Rosa Mountains in Riverside County on Monday afternoon, burning 1,200 acres by dusk and prompting evacuation orders in close by rural communities.
The blaze, dubbed the Rosa fireplace, was reported round 12:30 p.m. on Freeway 74 east of the Santa Rosa Truck Path within the mountains between Palm Desert and Anza, based on the California Division of Forestry and Hearth Safety.
