George Tidmarsh, the Meals and Drug Administration’s high drug regulator, will tackle extra tasks on a brief foundation after the sudden departure of high official Vinay Prasad on Tuesday.
Tidmarsh has been named performing director of the FDA’s Heart for Biologics Analysis and Analysis, FDA Commissioner Marty Makary mentioned in an e-mail considered by STAT. That’s one of many roles vacated by Prasad. Prasad was additionally the company’s chief medical and scientific officer.
“The FDA was very lucky to have Vinay’s experience at CBER,” Makary wrote to CBER employees. “He carried out main reforms and designed new regulatory frameworks that may have a permanent affect.”
