The Jerusalem District Planning and Constructing Committee, headed by Shira Talmi Babay this week authorized the plan to cowl Start Freeway.
The plan, ready by the Kolker Kolker Epstein architect agency, covers 215 dunams (53.75 acres) on a slender strip 1,600 meters in size between the Beyt Interchange and the Wolfson Bridge. The world will function a “roof” over the freeway and supply land for extra use. Main development shall be constructed on the sides of the roof, to stop extreme load in its middle. The roof will join the Beit Hakerem neighborhood to the Hebrew College Givat Ram campus, that are presently separated by the busy site visitors artery.
There shall be intensive development on the roof above the freeway together with some 2,000 housing items, 250 items for assisted residing, 300 lodge rooms, 30,000 sq. meters workplace and business area, and 75,000 sq. meters for public use. The proposed development is various, and consists of structural development of 6-15 flooring, alongside towers as much as 45 flooring.
The Planning Administration says, “That is the primary mission in Israel to roof a highway of such a scale and one of many largest engineering tasks in Israel, the fruit of greater than a decade of labor.” A devoted administration will now be established to implement the mission, as a part of the roof settlement that the Jerusalem Municipality signed with the Israel Land Authority.
