The Dodgers transferred right-hander Roki Sasaki to the 60-day injured checklist on Friday to make room for left-hander Zach Penrod, who was acquired from the Pink Sox for money issues.
Sasaki has been on the IL since Might 13 with a proper shoulder impingement.
Sasaki’s rookie season has been a battle. He’s 1-1 with a 4.72 ERA in eight begins for the Dodgers. He’s pitched 34 1/3 innings — a mean of lower than 4 1/3 innings per begin — and has almost as many walks (22) as strikeouts (24).
Penrod, 28, was designated for task on June 15. He made his Main League debut in 2024, posting a 2.25 ERA in seven video games. He made six appearances for Triple-A Worcester this season, going 0-1 with a 5.68 ERA and 7 strikeouts in 6.1 innings. In 37 minor league video games (22 begins), he’s 10-6 with a 4.05 ERA and 138 strikeouts in 102.1 innings. He was initially signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Texas Rangers in 2018 out of Northwest Nazarene.
